A finely weaved plant fiber coin purse, likely made from palm, with natural dyes and a lining on the inside. This type of purse is common in countries in South East Asia, where we can find versions with the same designs made from rattan in the Philippines and Sri Lanka. In America, we find this design of coin purses in Mexico. It is likely that they were imported to this country from the Philippines in the Manila Galleon, which got stranded off the coast of Acapulco between the 16th and 19th centuries.
