Famille Rose or Fencai Porcelain Teapot

Famille Rose or Fencai Porcelain Teapot

China

A teapot is part of the preparation of tea and the tea itself is a ritual of aroma and flavor that has been preserved for centuries in the hearts and minds of Chinese people. Porcelain or China is a white and translucent pottery, produced with refractory clay and baked at temperatures above 1300 degrees Celsius. Even in the 6th century A.D., one thousand years before the technique was known in Europe, porcelain vessels were produced and perfected for the court of the Sui Dynasty.
Chinese porcelain is considered one of the most precious arts in the domestic market and abroad. Particularly in porcelain, it is possible to transfer images of paintings and calligraphy to its surface with the same quality obtained from silk and paper, like in this teapot. It contains scenes of birds in the branches of peonies and plum in blossom, a traditional theme in Chinese painting. The colorful Yangcai (20th, foreign colors) or Fencai (20th,
pink colors) defines Famille Rose, a style of Chinese porcelain produced and exported for the European taste and market.
